Justin G. Thomas has been a member of the Federation family since January 16, 2001.  He has held numerous positions in the Federation and served in many capacities; including being the "In House" handy man.  He is the Manager of Communications & Leadership Development at the Greater Philadelphia Federation of Settlements and absolutely LOVES working with Youth Workers.  For just about his entire life, Justin has been involved with youth in some way or fashion, whether as a tutor or mentor in the classroom or a coach on the playing field or natatorium.  He is also strongly involved within several communities throughout Philadelphia and on a regional and national level through Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.  He has been involved with community beautification projects and anti violence awareness forums.  In 2004, Justin became the second Positive Youth Development Practitioner certified by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
Justin is a native Philadelphian who has lived in Denver, CO; Hamilton, NY and Bridgewater, MA.  A collegiate athlete in swimming, Justin received a BA in Journalism from Temple University and taught in the Philadelphia School District at Widener Memorial School as a water safety instructor for special needs children.  After leaving Widener, Justin spent four years pursuing a career as an editor for a construction newspaper.  Now with the Federation, Justin has found is calling through civil service and teaches front line Youth Workers in helping them to link the theoretical and practical approaches to positive youth development.  He is an honest man from a loving family, a compassionate Uncle, Brother and Son.
